David Henty
David Henty is admitted to the California State Bar and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in physics from the University of Alberta, Canada. His law degree is from the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining MDAS, David was a partner in the intellectual property law group of the international law firm of Graham & James, LLP. Prior to that he was a partner at the intellectual property law firm of Spensley, Horn, Jubas & Lubitz. David’s patent and prosecution experience includes counseling clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, including licensing and IP due diligence work and preparation of patent applications, amendments, validity and infringement opinions, re-examinations and reissues.
David’s litigation experience includes patent, trade secret, copyright and International Trade Commission litigation. His technical areas of expertise include computer hardware and software, wireless communications, fiber optic communications and networks, optical systems, imaging systems, analog and digital electronics, integrated circuit design and processing, display technologies, and data storage technologies.
David is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association. He is a former committee member of the National Research Council Senate Committee on U.S./Japan Intellectual Property Issues. His publications include: "What U.S. Companies Can Learn from Japanese Patent Strategies" R & D Strategist, Fall 1991.
