A copyright is a federally recognized property interest pertaining to the expression contained in works such as audio-visual material, texts, drawings, software, designs and patterns.  Copyright law entitles an author to restrict, among other things, the copying, distribution, or adaptation of the work.  We obtain, license and protect valuable copyrights in literary and musical works; computer software;  pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works; motion pictures; audiovisual works; sound recordings; and architectural works.  There is significant profit opportunity in licensing and enforcing copyrights.
